The 5 beaches of Conil de la Frontera that the Caribbean would love to have
The beaches of Conil are the ideal destination for thousands of travellers. This town has a great many clean beaches, characterised by crystal-clear water, fine sand and good service. In addition, two of the beaches of Conil have been awarded the Blue Flag, given only to the best-quality beaches.
For this reason, at Villas Flamenco we will tell you which are the best beaches in Conil de la Frontera so you can visit them all on your next trip.
Best beaches in Conil
1. Start at Playa de Roche
Playa de Roche is considered by everyone to be one of the best beaches in Conil. It is one of the 2 beaches in the town with the Blue Flag. For this reason, we recommend starting to enjoy your trip here.
Here you can enjoy tranquillity no matter how many visitors are there, as it is 2,200 m long and 40 m wide. You will find all the basic services here such as transport, parking areas, public toilets and police and Red Cross posts.

Here you can relax and switch off completely. It lies beneath the Cabo Roche cliff where the 16th-century Roche tower stands, also known as the Roche lighthouse. It is a monument of cultural interest that has been adapted to serve as a navigation light. It was previously used to alert the population by fire signals.
On this beach you can enjoy a unique natural setting and you will be close to 7 coves: Cala Encendida, Cala Áspera, Cala del tío Juan de Medina, Cala Medina, Cala del Frailecillo, Cala del Pato and Cala del Faro.
2. Make your next stop Playa de los Bateles in Conil
This beach also has the Blue Flag for its quality and holds ISO 14001 environmental certification. Unlike Playa de Roche, it has moderate, windy surf, which makes it one of the beaches in Conil that is ideal for water sports.
Playa de los Bateles is near the town centre. It is easy to reach and has all kinds of services such as parking areas, sun lounger hire and showers. Thanks to its location you will also find many bars and restaurants nearby.
Occupancy on this beach in Conil in summer is normally high because of its easy access. Don’t worry, though: it is large and has room for everyone, 850 metres long by 130 metres wide. Playa de los Bateles in Conil borders La Fontanilla.
3. La Fontanilla beach, another of the best beaches in Cádiz
It is one of the most visited beaches in Conil thanks to its Q for tourist quality and ISO 14001 environmental certification. But don’t worry, this beach is wide enough for everyone who is sightseeing in Conil to visit. It is 1,200 metres long by 40 wide.
La Fontanilla also has moderate, windy surf. For this reason it is one of the beaches in Conil that is ideal to visit as a family and with children. Its crystal-clear water is also shallow and there are no currents. Water sports are not usually practised on this beach.
If you enjoy looking at landscapes, we recommend going to La Atalaya park, which is very close to the beach. The park is on a cliff and has a viewpoint that is perfect for feasting your eyes.
4. Playa de Castilnovo, Conil de la Frontera
This unspoilt beach owes its name to the Torre de Castilnovo. The tower was used to warn of the arrival of invaders from Africa and to direct the almadraba fleet. Despite being 2,600 metres long and 180 metres wide, it is one of the beaches in Conil with a low level of occupancy as it has no parking area. Because of this it is visited by nudists.

So, if you are uncomfortable with nudity, avoid this stop. If, on the other hand, you don’t mind nudism or want to try it, bear in mind that the only way to get to the beach is by walking from Los Bateles or El Palmar.
The beach at Castilnovo also has moderate, windy surf, so it is perfect for water sports such as surfing.
We can say this is the ideal beach for those who want to disconnect from daily routine and enjoy the scenery and the sound of the waves.
5. Finish with the compulsory visit to Fuente del Gallo beach in Conil
You will find the best sunset of the beaches in Conil on this beach. It has medium occupancy and measures 1 kilometre long by 25 metres wide. Like most beaches in Conil, it has moderate surf and is shallow.
Fuente del Gallo beach is usually covered when the tide rises. It is in the Fuente del Gallo development. If you want to spend the night here we recommend staying in one of our accommodation in Conil.
You can get to the beach on foot or by car, as it has parking for users. Because of its characteristics, it is excellent for going as a family and practising different water sports. However, its visitors’ favourite activity is watching the sunset.
